EMDR does not apply to hypnosis techniques. As part of this therapy, the therapist guides the process using external stimuli, but you will always be awake and can control the process. If desired, you can interrupt the session at any time.

The method is absolutely safe, therefore it is suitable for both adults and the youngest children.

Psychiatric diseases and personality disorders are not contraindications.

In addition to PTSD, the EMDR method is indicated for conditions and disorders such as:

  • BAR (bipolar affective disorder)
  • Schizoaffective disorder
  • DRI (dissociative identity disorder)
  • Anxiety disorder
  • PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder)
  • With acute grief and loss
  • In case of extreme events (accident, fire, assault, etc.)
  • In case of single or prolonged violence (bullying, sexual or psychological violence)

The independent use of some EMDR elements is still acceptable. In the course of therapy, an EMDR specialist can provide training in those techniques that can be applied independently.
